Having spent a wonderful year as Arts Coordinator for Rook Lane Arts Trust, I will be returning to live in London at the end of March.
Throughout my year in the Chapel, there has been a constant stream of creative, quirky, kind and interesting people coming through the door – performers/ exhibitors and audience members.
Frome’s art scene is positively buzzing – quite unlike any other Somerset town I’ve come across. It really is a cultural hub. And Rook Lane Chapel – this grand, imposing, arts centre – continues to attract a whole host of creatives – utilising the performance/exhibition space to its full potential.
There’s a full and varied programme of music, art, literature, film and education throughout 2012. On Thursday 8 March, the Secret Staircase exhibition will open – a literary/art installation by artist Caroline Isgar and author Michèle Roberts. This is one not-to-be-missed. Come anytime from 6-9pm for a glass of wine, to meet the artists and to view a thoughtful, moving exhibition.
I’d like to say thank you to the Rook Lane Arts Trust for their support, also to the positive, energetic Rook Lane volunteers for all their help.
The arts venues in Frome are what make it such a special town – continue to support them!
