About Rook Lane Chapel & the Arts Trust

Rook Lane Chapel is a magnificent Grade 1 listed building in the heart of Frome. Founded in 1707 as a non-Conformist meeting house, the building now houses NVB Architects and Rook Lane Arts Trust.

Rook Lane Arts Trust was set up in 2002, coinciding with the renovation of the chapel, to maintain and promote Rook Lane Chapel as a venue for the arts.

The trust aims to attract the visual and performing arts, locally and nationally, of the highest quality to this magnificent building. The objects of the charity are the Education of the Public in all aspects of the Arts.

The trust is staffed by an administrator, supported by an active board of trustees and volunteers, and by NVB Architects. We hope that the arts and activities which take place within this space, like its re-design, combine a respect for the past but also celebrate the contemporary.

The space is equipped with seating, portable staging and lighting, and an exhibition hanging system. Complementing the original structure, there is a striking contemporary gallery area and garden to the rear of the chapel.

If you would like to offer your time or support to Rook Lane Arts, or as a business would be interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, please contact the administrator.

If you would like to find out more about Rook Lane Chapel and its colourful past, an illustrated ‘Short History of Rook Lane Chapel’ is available from Rook Lane Arts, price £3.50.

Quotes

But it’s wonderful for people like myself who worked on the repair to come here and see it so beautifully finished, being used for exactly the purpose we wanted it used for, for public, for arts and for the use of the community of Frome. It’s wonderful.

Hugh Stafford, Secretary to the Somerset Buildings Preservation Trust 1991

I’ve been to Frome, but this is something else.
